Dinner at Thirty Acres in Jersey City, NJ

Went back to Thirty Acres because they recently changed a large portion of their menu to be more Fall-oriented.  As usual everything we got was delicious, and overall the cost wasn't too bad considering it's BYOB and that the food is so fresh and has local, high quality ingredients.  Everyone should come here!  The NYTimes, Grub Street, and all other foodie blogs are raving about this place.

Corned Beef Special - OMG SO GOOD words cannot describe.  I've never had grilled corned beef.  It was so thick and juicy and had that awesome grill taste.  Topped with hazelnuts and side of mustard and pickled cabbage.

Pork Chop with apples, seckel pear, escarole, onions and almond salse.  Perfectly cooked and nice mix of side veggies.

Duck Breast with carrots, cauliflower, cumin, maple, raisins and jerk sauce.  Again the duck was perfect.  So tender and the fat perfectly rendered.  I liked the sauce but I'm not the hugest fan of cumin.  Also raisins in food creeps me out ha

Spiced apple crisp with fresh whipped cream.  LOVE LOVE LOVE.  Also huge in size.  The pic is deceiving.  Their fresh whipped cream is the BOMB.  Overall the apple crisp wasn't that sweet, which for me was a negative.  But the cream made up for it.

Lunch at Nha Trang Place in Jersey City, NJ

Another lunch with the 'rents at Nha Trang Place.  I have not been to that many different Vietnamese restaurants, but this one is always solid.  I was adventurous and got something new today - neither pho or beef cubes.  I actually really enjoyed what I got and had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day.

Grilled beef & spring roll w/sesame seasoned lettuce on rice vermicelli - this was my first time ordering it.  I was apprehensive about the noodles but they came with a bowl of fish sauce so it made it much more juicy vs. dry.  I also enjoyed the peanuts on top.  Great touch.

Lunch from Dario's in Newark, NJ

Andrew and I ordered Dario's for lunch since neither of us wanted to be particularly healthy, and I was craving meat after my vegetarian dinner last night.  This was definitely more food than I should've eaten for lunch, as my afternoon was not as productive ha.  But it was worth it for the delicious chicken taco salad.

Dinner from Buon Appetito in Jersey City, NJ

HP sick = take-out!  We ordered from Buon Appetito as we were craving some hearty Italian food.  I particularly was craving some CHEESE.  Everything was delicious and in humongous proportions.  I still have never been inside the restaurant, but their delivery never disappoints, which is an excellent sign.

Mozzarella Sticks - can't really screw that up.  Even though it took awhile for delivery to come they were still hot and perfectly cheesy

Medium Capicola, Prosciutto, Sopressata and Sharp Provolone Sub

Garlic knots!  Next time they need to cook the garlic longer because it had a bitter rather than sweet taste

Small chicken cutlet sub with fresh mozzarella and roasted red peppers.  Definitely lasted for two meals
Not pictured: chicken soup and extra bread.  Yum yum yum.

Dinner at Kraverie in Jersey City, NJ

More Kraverie pics!  This time a bibimbap bowl with galbi and kimchi bacon fried rice.  The bimbimbap was wonderful as us(ual - trying to imitate that Miami Dolphins player is hard on the computer).  The kimchi bacon fried rice was a dish that I have been wanting to try for some time but never did because it's less meaty than others.  It was good but definitely light on the bacon.  I had plenty of leftovers but only two tiny bits of bacon.  It did come with a fried egg, which always makes things better.

Dinner at Park & Sixth in Jersey City, NJ

Went to Park & Sixth last night as we were craving some comfort food.  And lo and behold they had as a special something I've been craving for the past few days - Chicken Parm!  We started off with their homemade mozzarella, tomato and basil, dressed w/some olive oil and balsamic vinagrette.  The homemade "muzz" was SO good.  Some of the best mozzarella I've ever eaten.  The chicken parm was tasty but I think I would have preferred a more bunny, round bread vs. the baguette it was on.  Though Dan thought the baguette was "bomb."  We also shared a turkey burger with sauteed mushrooms and wasabi ketchup.  And for the side got brussel sprout hash.  Where else could you get that for only $10?  AMAZING.

Home-made Hoisin Chicken & Veggies

I had bought this bottle of hoisin sauce from 555 weeks ago and finally thought it was time to use it.  So chopped some veggies and chicken and Dan created a sauce with hoisin, chili paste, soy sauce, and some olive oil to create a delicious and healthy stir fry over white rice.  We used green beans, variety of peppers, mushrooms, and huge cloves of garlic (obvi).  Very filling and I did not feel gross at all afterwards.  YAY.
