Dinner from Gina's Pizzeria and Restaurant in Harrison, NJ

We ordered some take-out from Gina's.  As usual it took awhile to arrive, but it was worth it because both the pizza and pasta dishes we ordered were excellent.
White garlic pizza with tomatoes

Spicy linguine with shrimp, peas, and broccoli.  Def had some heat

Pasta came w/bread and small salad.  Delicious!

Dinner at Socarrat in NYC

Dan and I went to Socarrat in Soho for Restaurant Week.  Had a delicious Spanish meal full of some of our fav dishes from Espana.  It ended up not being cheap because we ordered so much but it was definitely worth it. And of course, the only place in NYC to get authentic Madrileno style churros con chocolate.
Croquetas.  Perfectly fried

Assortment of meats and cheeses not on RW menu

Giant pan of squid ink paella for two.  Delicious but at this point I was pretty full.  Fortunately it reheated well

Gambas al ajillo - garlic shrimp. Tasty but I like it when the shrimp has a little bit of a crunch
Sundae funday.  Churros, chocolate and whipped cream

Tasty flan

Lunch from La Cocina in Newark, NJ

I decided to try La Cocina, which is right next door to Robert's and the Thai place in downtown Newark.  The line was kind of line but moved quickly.  The food was delicious - very hearty, flavorful and fresh, and only around $8 for a meal that lasted for two.  Would definitely come back but it was just a little heavy, so maybe best for Friday afternoons haha.
Pernil with maduros and yellow rice w/black eyed peas

Lunch from Jimmy John's in Newark, NJ

I would not have though that a chain restaurant would have worse sandwiches than Subway, but I'm going to have to rank my experience at Jimmy John's that way.  While the sandwich came out super quickly, it had NO taste.  Plus the fillings (roast beef, cheese, lettuce, and tomato) was super cold, almost icy.  The bread tasted terrible.  Super dry with no taste.  Sad to find this out.

Semi-home pesto zucchini pasta w/salmon

We made our own zucchini noodles with salmon and pesto from Trader Joe's.  Delicious, light, and healthy.

Dinner at Le District in NYC

Took Dan to Brookfield Place and we ended up eating at Le District, which is a French version of Eataly.  Of course not quite as good as actually being in France, but a very solid meal that wasn't expensive at all.  The service was a little spotty.  We ordered some meat and cheese but the meat didn't come until after the cheese and after the entrees.  We still enjoyed it though and because of the delay, the waiter gave us a round of drinks for free.
New cheese - delice de Bourgogne with cherries and bread.  Amazing combo.  After we bought a small block of the cheese for home

Le District Burger with fries.  Dan enjoyed this a lot.  $16

My steak frites.  Not bad for $22

Delayed Portion Boar Saucis (boar sausage)

Went to the creperie, which was separate from where we ate.  I think this was speculoos and caramel?  The only disappointing part of the meal

Home-made pulled pork sliders

We hadn't used the slow cooker in awhile so we made some Dr. Pepper pulled pork with fresh coleslaw on Martin's potato rolls.  We ended up not saucing everything but just adding sauce whenever we wanted to so that we could use the pork in non bbq dishes.  This just reaffirms that we should be using the slow cooker more often.
