Dessert from Downtown Yogurt in Jersey City, NJ

We hit up Downtown Yogurt after Porta to pretend like we were having a "healthy" dessert, if that's possible.  Probably not true when you dump like four kinds of chocolate on three froyo flavors, but a girl can dream can't she?
Mine of left.  I think had vanilla and pistachio with cap'n crunch, chocolate pretzels, and lots of diff chocolate.  Dan also followed my healthy lead.

Dinner at Porta Pizza in Jersey City, NJ

Porta is becoming one of my fav pizza go-tos in JC.  It's similar to Razza, but much bigger in size and it seems like their menu changes more often.  They also have a bigger menu in general so lots of things to try.  Everything was delicious and I was definitely impressed.
Tasty cocktails

Meatballs! Had to get this so we could dip our crusts in the sauce

Special white pizza with squash and speck I think.  Delicious!  Was my fav of the two pizzas

Caesar pizza - parmigiano, white anchovy, roasted egg, garlic, lemon, caper, and of course romaine.  Salad on a pizza means you're eating veggies right

Home-made pernil

Dan and I finally got our pernil to be the way my dad (and Puerto Ricans) make it.  This was due to the fact that we got a huge piece with skin, vs. last time when it was bone and skinless.  Don't know what we were thinking before.  It was sooo good but unhealthy haha.  Lasted what felt like a million meals.

Dinner at Bistro La Source in Jersey City, NJ

Dan felt like french food (particularly steak) so  we hit up Bistro La Source.  We sat outside, which was nice because lots of pups were dining there.  The service was a bit slow, but overall our meal was good, minus the pate which tasted more like glue/paste than pate.

Special appetizer with softshell crab, cherry tomatoes and corn.  Delicious and summer at its best

Homemade pate of duck liver and foie gras with toast rounds.  The portion was huge but so cold and didn't taste good.  It was very grainy and just left a taste in our mouth that neither of us enjoyed.
Mediterranean seafood stew with clams, mussels, calamari, cod, sea scallops, tomato and garlic saffron broth.  Delicious and pretty light.  Similar to a bouillabaisse or choppino.  Love seafood.

Dan got the filet with morel mushroom sause, spinach, and fingerling potatoes.  Very tasty and good portion size.  We also got a side of fries, both for his steak and my stew

Dessert from Bucket and Bay in Jersey City, NJ

We took the pups on a walk to Bucket and Bay Gelato Co.  The dogs are actually allowed inside but seemed like they would get too crazy and hyped up so they waited outside with Dan while I got the gelato.  While the gelato was good, I thought it could taste richer, and the alcohol for me overpowered the sweetness of the vanilla gelato.   I still prefer Torico and Milk Sugar Love to this place but happy to have tried it.  The whiskey flight would still be fun.

Dan got mint chip on the bottom and black label vanilla (infused with Johnnie Walker) on top.  The mint chip was super minty - more so than any other mint chip either of us had tried.  The black label vanilla wasn't vanilla-y enough for us

I got black label vanilla on top, and rose latte on the bottom with a homemade cone.  The cone tasted a little burned.  The rose latte also was super subtle; it almost had no taste and wasn't very sweet either.  I don't know if I would have identified rose had I not known what it was. Sad because the combo sounded so delicious when I ordered it

Lunch at Mama Fina's House of Sisig in Elmwood Park, NJ

Dan and I met my parents at Mama Fina's for some delicious filipino good.  Everytime we go it's excellent, but legit this time I had the best sigig of my life - and it wasn't even pork!  Their squid sisig was soo crispy and still had excellent squid flavor.  For me, and I think Dan agreed, it was even more amazing than the pork sisig, which is still the best pork sisig I've had.  Everyone should come eat here but I don't want it to get more crowded haha.
Pork BBq and bangus with rice

Huge piece of bangus (milkfish)

Java rice.  Filipino attempt at Spanish rice

I believe this was the bangus sisig.  Very large pieces of fish in there

Squid sisig.  Taking over my heart

Bulalo - bone marrow soup.  So rich and hearty

Pork sisig - best pork sisig ever

Dinner at Talde in Jersey City, NJ

We hadn't been to Talde in awhile and were looking for a low key but tasty (both food and drink wise) dinner.  We went to Talde and ordered wayy too much, but everything was delicious and we tried a lot of new things on the menu.  The only really negative I have is that the halo-halo, while definitely awesome because of the Cap'n Crunch, had too much ice, and not enough ice cream.  Otherwise, an excellent, albeit pricey, meal.
Delicious cocktails.  (L) Dan got the Ginger Rose - four roses bourbon, laird's applejack, lemon and ginger-cinnamon grenadine.  (R) Watermelon margarita - delicious and loved the huge slice of watermelon with it

Finally tried the #6 bao - spicy chicken .  My bad for saying this was from McDonald's when apparently it's an homage to Wendy's.  DELICIOUS.  Get this.

Grilled short rib robata with sesame and asian pear kimchi.  Not a huge portion but sooo flavorful.  Meat was not too fatty and had an awesome marinade.

Blue crab fried rice with jalapeno and jalapeno aioli. The only repeat dish because it is that good.  Huge pieces of crab and delicious sauce.

Crispy Oyster and Bacon Pad Thai - delicious but a little too rich for me.  I personally thought just having one of those proteins would've been enough.  Dan thought it was excellent though.

Non traditional halo halo.  Loved the creativity with cap'n crunch, but hard to taste ice cream

So much shaved ice

Where's the ice cream???
