Lunch at Gramercy Tavern in NYC

Dan and I went to Gramercy Tavern (finally!) for an anniversary lunch.  Karem had given me a gift certificate so was a perfect time to try it.  Everything was delicious, and the service was excellent, as it should be for having one Michelin star.  Food-wise, I can't say that I would necessarily come back as I wasnt blown away, but I had absolutely no complaints about the experience.  I just don't think anything on the menu was food that would make me come running back at that price point.  But I'm glad we finally tried it.

I got a cider flight
Angel biscuits with goat cheese butter.  Incredibly good

Dinner at Wild in NYC

Jordan and I went to Wild near her apartment for an Italian (and gluten-free..unintentionally) dinner.  The place was very small so we were up close and personal with our neighbors. Definitely not something that I can see happening again anytime soon due to COVID.  All our food was good especially considering it was g-f.  I didn't notice any difference texture-wise or taste-wise, but besides that, it wasn't super memorable.  However, if you are gluten-free, I'm sure this would be awesome because you'd get all your carb fixings sans gluten.

Lunch from Jollibee in NYC

Dan and I were in the city and stopped by Jollibee in Times Square strictly to try their chicken sandwich.  It was incredible.  Perfectly crispy, juicy, and their garlic aioli and incredible gravy makes it far and away the best of all the fried chicken sandwiches!  So much good food at Jollibee but definitely worth trying.  And this was the first but definitely not last time that we had.

Gotta have aioli

Bitch better have my gravy (said in Rihanna's voice :)

Thanksgiving leftovers

For Thanksgiving 2019, I decided to be creative and use stuffing to make a waffle, and then topped it with the other typical Thanksgiving foods like turkey, gravy, cranberry and mashed potatoes.  And amazing and creative use of leftovers IMO.

Dinner at Au Cheval in NYC

Nicole and I finally went to Au Cheval in NYC since we had wanted to go while we were in Chicago, but in Chi town a little more crazy to get in.  We went at early bird time so we had no problem getting seated.  The burger was sooo rich and sooo delicious.  I dare say the best burger in NYC I've had so far.  Will not to try again to really verify this but I can't think of a better one I had which is saying a LOT.

Crispy Fries w/garlic aioli :)

Another shot of the fries.  Perfectly crisp and the sauce was on point

In love w/this burger and am not sad I cannot leave my house to eat it right now.  A single burger is actually a double.  Perfectly cooked.  Thick cut bacon.  Simple but perfect

Lunch from Al Horno Lean Mexican Kitchen in NYC

I ordered a burrito nearby work for lunch, honestly because there was a 50% discount on Ritual.  It was huge and lasted two lunches.  Perfectly adequate, but not the best nor most memorable burrito I've ever had.

Dessert from Spot Dessert Bar in NYC

I realize it's been a long time since I posted anything.  With the pandemic, I honestly lost some drive to update this, especially since we haven't gone out to each since March 2020.  However, I figured if I didn't start posting old pics, I might never get back into it, and that would just be another thing that the pandemic took away.  So here's me starting to post some very old but still memorable pics.

Some time ago, in a time far far away, I went to Spot Dessert Bar in the East Village.  I picked these up to go and they were intense.  The cookie was a caramel miso cookie.  The miso taste was a little subdued, it was mostly caramel.  The nata was delicious as most are, but not like I would go out of my way to go here to get that since the are closer, more authentic places (ie portuguese or chinese bakeries).  Still, a cute joint especially if you are around St. Mark's.
