Dinner at Gnoccheria in NYC

Heather and I tried out Gnoccheria after work one night.  The place was huge and beautiful inside, but pretty empty so we got a lot of attention.  Everything we ate was wonderful and the gnocchi was definitely not just pretty but delicious.  If you're feeling like some gnocchi, can't go wrong here.

Complimentary foccacia bread.  Fancyyy

Octopus was perfectly cooked

Tris signature dish for two - sorentina, quattro formaggi (four cheese) and pesto genovese.  The sorrentina and pesto were my fav as the four cheese was a bit heavy, but it was nice having them all together

Lunch from Bao by Kaya in Jersey City, NJ

I ordered some food from a new spot at Newport Mall - Bao By Kaya.  They had delicious Asian snacks, and I was surprised by how good it was honestly being in a mall stand.  Not sure if this place even exists anymore, but it was a great lunch pre movie.

Pork Belly Bao, Baja Fish Bao, and Popcorn chicken

Dinner at Tim Ho Wan in NYC

Elena came back to visit and we met at Tim Ho Wan for lunch.  The place always high quality dim sum in a relaxed environment.  The original location is also less crazy crowded now that there's a second one in midtown.  Great meal and great company.

Overview of all the delicious dim sum

Turnip cake, pork buns, and coffee

Turnip cake, shrimp har gow pork buns, other dumplings

My fav - shrimp shumai

Closer up view of turnip cake and pork buns

Dinner at Madame Vo in NYC

I took Dan to Madame Vo and we had an incredible meaty meal.  We maybe over ordered, but I regret nothing.  The short rib pho was just as good as I remembered, and everything else was incredible too.  Highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for impeccably done Vietnamese food in NYC.

Bo Luc Lac - Seared ribeye on a sizzling platter with scallions and a fried egg..  Perfectly cooked and tender

Madame Platter - Grilled chicken, sugarcane shrimp, grilled pork, honey glazed pork & fried spring rolls over banh hoi noodles served with rice paper & topped with peanuts served with fish sauce..  This was sooo good but soo much food.  Why did we order so much LOL

The Madame Pho - Beef broth simmered for 24 hours with rice noodles, topped with cilantro and short rib.  Always add on the short rib

Garlic noodles at the bottom - Rice noodles stir fired with eggs, shrimp, scallions, and garlic.. If I had to eliminate something, I would say that wasn't a necessary dish, but still it was delicious

Dinner at Let's Meat in NYC

Preface - I did not take good pictures nor can I identify all the different meats, but I wholeheartedly recommend Let's Meat in K-Town.  They have all your can eat BBQ at low, fixed prices (like $35 ish).  2 hour time limit but that's plenty of time to stuff yourself with meat.  They have soju of course which makes it a perfect dinner.  Best K BBQ deal you can get in NYC.

Home-made vegan shepherd's pie

We've been using a lot of plant protein as meat substitutes.  Not because we're giving up meat, but mostly to try something different and slightly healthier (cholesterol wise.  I think calorically these plant subs are pretty similar).  We made a delicious shepherd's pie using impossible meat, and also another time using beyond ground meat  My opinion is impossible works better as has a milder flavor.  The beyond meat taste smoky, so I think it's better in chili.  But both were still delicious.  These photos I believe are of impossible meat.

Home-made mushroom soup

We were hoping to feel a little healthy post Thanksgiving, so Dan decided to make a delicious multi-mushroom soup.  I think he used white button, shitake, baby bella, and also portobello.  It was delicious and so rich and hearty despite having no meat.  So much umami :)
