So our last day was a bit of a food fest. For our second lunch, we stopped at Helena's Hawaiian Food, the other well-known place for authentic Hawaiian food. The original proprietor of Helena's actually won a James Beard award, which was no surprise after we finished because the food was excellent and definitely tasted better than Ono. We had a "small" lunch, meaning we only ordered three dishes haha. We got some pipikaula (short ribs) because Helena's is known for that, and they were so much better than Ono. At Ono, the meat was more like jerky. At Helena's, there were bones, which meant more flavor and fat. We also got fried ahi, which was good but not the best fried fish I've ever had. We also got laulau, which is pork and butterfish steamed in taro leaves. Ono had run out of it. It was sooo good. Super tender meat and so much flavor though they didn't have much spices.
