Brunch at Miss Lily's in NYC

Had a delicious bottomless Ladies brunch at Miss Lily's Restaurant, which is Jamaican.  Super cool Island vibe inside.  The waitress was quite generous with our drinks - I think we stayed an extra hour haha.  We all ordered the same thing because it was so tempting - coconut waffle with fried chicken.  Couldn't really taste the coconut but they were quality chicken and waffles.  The jerk corn was also so amazing.
Jerk Corn with toasted coconut.  Delicious flavors.  The toasted coconut was so unique and the lime enhanced it too

Coconut waffles with fried chicken.  The syrup had jerk seasoning flavoring too

Dinner at Pig and Khao in NYC

Dan and I went to Pig and Khao for Restaurant Week.  For $38 per person we got sooo much food.  We were full early on and even had to take stuff home.  Dan didn't love the meal as much as me but I still really enjoyed it and would recommend it.
Our drinks.  Forgot mine was but was very healthy and thick tasting.  Didn't love it

Chicharron - ten spice and coconut vinegar

Grilled Pork Jowl - brussel sprouts, toasted rice, lime-chili, fish sauce, herbs.  Lots of flavor.  Not too much pork unfortunately

Green Papaya Salad - charred chicken, green papaya, crispy taro, peanuts, herb, fish sauce, lime juice.  Tons of flavor and very refreshing

Love their coconut rice

Shan Noodles - ground chicken, turfmeric, peanuts, fermented mustard greens, and rice noodles.  Unfortunately we both thought this was lacking some flavor

Side of cabbage with ribs.  Dry

BBQ Baby Back Ribs.  Tender though sauce was a little sweet.  We were pretty full by this point and still had to save room for dessert

Mixed up Shan Noodles

Halo Halo - amazing.  Also a normal size versus normal Filipino mega size

Ricotta donuts with kalamansi custard.  Great fluffy donuts and loved the custard dipping sauce

Dinner at Shack Shack and Mighty Quinn's in NYC

Dan and I wanted to do some crispy chicken sandwich comparisons, we got chicken sammies both from Shack Shack and Mighty Quinn's.  Dan preferred Shack Shack for the sauce - some herb mayo.  I preferred Mighty Quinn's as it was spicy and I loved all the other stuff on the sandwich.  The MQ's one is much larger.  We split it up but had leftovers.  Still need to try the fuku sandwich.
Chicken sammies

Cheese fries.  Yum yum

My chicken sandwich without onions or mayo.  I guess it's pretty plain without that stuff.  Good crispy news but too thick patty

Spicy sauce on Mighty Quinn's sandwich.  Same sauce as on their wings

Underneath are the pickled cucumbers and slaw.  Great balance

Home-made pasta

A combined post.  Dan took on making L'artusi's Spaghetti Aglio y Olio.  It was amazing and very close to their version minus not using fresh pasta.  We were going to but realized we did not, in fact, have a pasta attachment for our Kitchen Aid.  It came out amazingly and again, meatless.

Second post is semi-home made tortellini.  We got some spinach and ricotta filled tortellini and Dan made home-made brown butter sauce.  It was a little sweet but still well done.

Spaghetti with garlic, olive oil, chives, toasted bread crumbs.  Soo yum

Brunch at Flex Mussels in NYC

Had a family couples brunch at Flex Mussels around Union Square.  All of the food was AMAZING, but especially the donuts.  They were crazy good, both the savory and sweet.  The entrees were rich and delicious and unhealthy.  We didn't even get any mussels this time around but such a great place I think it will be a repeat in the near future.
Complimentary biscuit bites with a sweet frosting

Everything Donuts - each had different cream cheese filling.  From top to bottom - jalapeno cream cheese, bacon cream cheese, salmon cream cheese, scallion cream cheese.  All delish but favs were bacon and salmon.  The donuts were so fluffy like a regular donut but the awesome taste of an everything bagel

The Messiest Sandwich - Bialy with cheddar, maple candied bacon, egg, roasted tomatoes, and sauteed kale.  All delicious but soooo hard to hold.  Also I don't think it was really a bialy.  But I loved all the flavors.  Half of it would've been sufficient

The Messiest Sandwich again

Jalapeno Cheddar Waffles with tomatillo crema and chipotle butter.  Em didn't love it sadly

Shelly BENEDICTOWITZ  - potato latke, smoked salmon, dill creme fraiche. Delicious. Dan ate it all up.  Latke base should be everywhere

Fun looking sugar crystals

Best donuts in America.  Each filled with deliciousness.  (Top to bottom) Lemon, peanut butter and jelly, and three cinnamon sugar.  The vanilla dipping sauce is mind blowing esp with the cinnamon sugar donut.  Like a malasada.  I could've licked the sauce

They forgot to give us dulce de leche (instead giving extra cinnamon) so they made new ones.  Sooo good

Lunch from VB3 in Jersey City, NJ

We ordered sandwiches from VB3.  They came quickly and were huge - two meals' worth.  A good lunch option - everything taste fresh and authentic flavors.

Dessert at Dominique Ansel Kitchen in NYC

Dan and I went to Dominique Ansel Kitchen for dessert.  Interesting seating inside.  There are rows like a stadium.  Everything is delicious though still have not had a cronut from there.
Sea salt chocolate Madeleine's - soooo light and fluffy.  Not too sweet and great contrast with the sea salt
Brown Sugar DKA - Dominique's Kouign Amann.  Classic.  Perfect
