Dinner at Cafeteria in NYC

Risheen and I went to Cafeteria in Chelsea for dinner.  I was very happy to know we didn't have to wait to be seated, because all the reviews state that no matter what time of day, there's a wait.  Negative is that I didn't see anyone famous as the reviews also stated haha.

We shared a few different dishes, including truffled parmesan fries, mac attack (sampler of three types of macaroni and cheese), and fried chicken and biscuit sliders.

The fries were good but I've had better.  The fried chicken sliders probably would taste better to other people, but a big draw of it seemed to be the sauce (mayo-based, which I'm not a fan of) and pickles (again, not a fan).  This may be sacrilegous too, but McDonald's has a Southern Fried Chicken Biscuit in the summer during their sweet tea promotional period, and I prefer that haha.  The mac-and-cheese combo was excellent though!  My favorites (going from right to left in the picture in fact) were (1) smoked gouda and bacon, (2) truffle oil, and last (3) buffalo blue cheese.  There's something about buffalo sauce, chicken, and cheese that didn't sit well.  Maybe too much dairy. Nonetheless, definitely worth trying.  For the sample you can pick 3 of 4 types of mac-and-cheese.  The one we didn't get was the cheapest and plainest - cheddar and fontina.  But perhaps a better choice in retrospect than the buffalo blue cheese.

All in all though an excellent meal, and there are many, many more things I'd like to try, including fried chicken and waffles, short rib tacos, and of course, fried oreos.  Who wants to go next time? :)
