Dinner at Empanada Mama in NYC

Elena and I went to Empanada Mama for a quick delicious dinner before seeing Friends the Musical.  The place is pretty large and they had happy hour deals.  I like that they have different flour options.  They also have plenty of other options if you're not feeling empanadas (but why wouldn't you be?!) We shared everything so got to try lots and it ended up being super cheap, like less than $20 per person.  Great spot for a quick dinner in midtown.
Cubana Arepa - sofrito sasoned roast pork, cuban style black beans, and mozzarella cheese

Reggaeton (wheat flour)  - carribean style roast pork with sofrito seasoned yellow rice with pigeon peas

Greek Spinach Pie (oven baked) - classic Greek style with spinach and feta cheese.  Discovered (or rather, re-remembered) that oven baked empanadas are my fav!  My fav empanada place in DC (Julia's Empanadas) only had oven baked empanadas

Pernil (wheat flour) - marinated pork slow-roasted to perfection

Sweet plantain (dessert empanada) - mashed sweet plantains with mozzarella cheese.  This was the only thing I didn't love.  A weird flavor combination.  Sad because I've had delicious arepas before with sweet plantains but maybe it was the cheese pairing because the plantains with a diff cheese before was great for a savory combo
