For being a small town, we have some awesome bakeries. Pastis is a french/Jewish bakery that has some excellent kougin ammons. Not the type of thing we should have all the time but excellent when you are in the mood for some decadent, flaky pastries.
Trip #1: Paris Breast (Pâte à choux puff, Praline Italian buttercream, Toasted almonds, Powdered sugar) 2 Dulce De Leche Kouign Ammon and Almond Croissant
Paris Breast was a lot. Loved the pastry puff but the cream was intense
The Kouign Ammons were the star!
Almond croissant was a tad dry
The filling was divine as was the cream on top. Wish there were more cream
Trip #2: Cheese Danish, Hazelnut Kouign Ammon, Dulce de Leche Kouign Ammon and Bialies
Cheese danish was good but not super memorable
The chocolate hazelnut croissant was incredible. Like a flaky croissant and ferrero rocher had a baby! must get!
Already knew the dulce de leche was bomb from last time
Inside of the chocolate hazelnut kouign ammon. Def looks like a ferrero rocher, no?
Their home-made bialies/bagels reminded us of Montreal? They were fine but we prefer the larger, more Jersey/NYC style bagels
